    Sergio Ramos

    Sergio Ramos García (born 30 March 1986) is a Spanish professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain. Known for his aggressive play, he is widely regarded as one of the greatest defenders of all time, having formerly played for Real Madrid for sixteen seasons, winning four UEFA Champions League titles along with two UEFA European Championships and the 2010 FIFA World Cup with the Spain national team.

    Club career

    Real Madrid (2005-2021):

    In August 2005, Real Madrid signed Sergio Ramos for a transfer fee of €27 million, which at the time was a record fee for a Spanish teenager. He spent 16 seasons with the club and became one of their most iconic and successful players of all time.

     

    During his time at Real Madrid, Ramos won numerous titles, including:

     

    5 UEFA Champions League titles (2013-2018)

    4 FIFA Club World Cup titles (2014-2018)

    4 UEFA Super Cup titles (2014, 2016, 2017, 2018)

    5 La Liga titles (2007, 2008, 2012, 2017, 2020)

    2 Copa del Rey titles (2011, 2014)

    Ramos was a key member of the Real Madrid team and was known for his leadership qualities, physicality, and ability to score crucial goals. He made a total of 671 appearances for the club, scoring 101 goals in all competitions. He also won numerous individual awards, including the UEFA Defender of the Year award three times (2017, 2018, 2019).

     

    Paris Saint-Germain (2021-2023):

    In July 2021, Ramos signed a two-year contract with Paris Saint-Germain. PSG started the 2022–23 season by winning the 2022 Trophée des Champions in Tel Aviv, in which Ramos scored a goal in a 4–0 win over Nantes. On 6 September 2022, he made his Champions League debut with PSG in a 2–1 win over Juventus.

    Spain national team

    Sergio Ramos is a retired Spanish professional footballer who had a successful international team career, representing Spain in several international tournaments and winning numerous titles.

     

    Ramos made his debut for the Spanish national team in 2005 and went on to become a key player for the team, known for his strong defensive skills and leadership qualities. He was part of the Spanish squad that won the UEFA European Championship in 2008 and 2012 and the FIFA World Cup in 2010.

     

    In total, Ramos earned 180 caps for the Spanish national team, making him the most capped player in the country's history at the time of his retirement. He also served as the team's captain from 2016 until his retirement in 2021.

    Ramos announced his retirement from international football on 23 February 2023 at the age of 36, having not appeared for his country in nearly two years, after new coach Luis de la Fuente told him he would no longer be selected.
