    Netherlands Jerseys

The Netherlands national football team (Dutch: Het Nederlands Elftal) has represented the Netherlands in international football matches since 1905. The national team is controlled by the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB), which is a part of UEFA, and under the jurisdiction of FIFA the governing body for football in the Netherlands. Most of the Netherlands home matches are played at the Johan Cruyff Arena and the Stadion Feijenoord. The team is colloquially referred to as Het Nederlands Elftal (The Dutch Eleven) or Oranje, after the House of Orange-Nassau. Like the country itself, the team is sometimes (also colloquially) referred to as Holland. The fan club is known as Het Oranje Legioen.

The Netherlands national team has a long and illustrious history, dating back to the late 19th century. The team has Euro '88 and reached two consecutive World Cup finals in 1974 and 1978, but lost both finals to their respective host nations, West Germany and Argentina. At the peak of its success in the 1970s, the team was famous for its mastery of Total Football and was nicknamed Clockwork Oranje for its precision passing. In many countries and even the Netherlands itself, the team is colloquially referred to as Holland. The Netherlands is also well-known for its distinctive orange jersey, which is a nod to the country's Dutch heritage. The Netherlands has a rich football history and is one of the most successful national teams in the world. The team's unique style of play and vibrant orange jerseys make them a force to be reckoned with on the international stage.

Inspiration for the national color of the Netherlands jersey

Why is the Netherlands jersey in orange? When Dutch national teams participate in championships, they wear orange jerseys, a peculiar color. The color orange refers to the family name of the Dutch Royal Family, the House of Orange-Nassau. Their ancestor, William of Orange, is the founding father of the Netherlands. Orange symbolizes national unity, and the Dutch signify national pride by wearing orange.

Famous player of the Dutch national team

    Frenkie de Jong

Frenkie de Jong is one of the most sought-after players of the dutch national team on the international stage. What makes Frenkie truly special, though, is his love for competing and winning. Whether he's playing for Ajax or the Dutch national team, he wears his signature Dutch jersey with pride and always gives it his all on the field. And it's this combination of skill and passion that has allowed him to achieve so much at such a young age. Whether he's dazzling fans around the world or taking home another trophy, Frenkie is truly an amazing player who embodies everything it means to be a champion.

From Johan Cruyff to Robin van Persie or Virgil van Dijk, the Dutch national team has produced some of world soccer's best talent for decades, and they're now back on the hunt for trophies.

Immortalized in soccer history thanks to the achievements of Johan Cruyff and his generation of players in the 1970s, they were European champions in 1988 under Rinus Michels with a squad including the likes of Frank Rijkaard, Ruud Gullit, Ronald Koeman, and Marco van Basten.

History of the Dutch national team

The first-ever dutch legend retrospect to the 1900s and 1910s when Bok Der Korver led the nation to finish third place in the Olympic games in 1908 and 1912. Harry Denis was one of the best defenders in the World in the first half 1920s. In the 1930s, the Netherlands was ranked below the top 15 by Elo Rating but groups of stars like Puck Van Heel, Kick Smit, and Beb Bakhuys have existed. In the post-war era, the famous golden trio was formed consisting of Abe Lenstra, Faas Wilkes, and Kee Rijvers with additional great defender Cor Van De Hart. Unfortunately, the Netherlands did not enter the 1950 and 1954 World Cup qualifications.

    World cup podiums

At the World Cup in 2010, the Netherlands once again got off to an impressive start, beating Japan, Denmark, and Cameroon to top their group. A 2-1 round-of-16 win over Slovakia meant the Netherlands faced their first major test of the tournament in the quarter-finals against Brazil. In the final, the Netherlands faced Spain at Soccer City in Johannesburg, where they were beaten 1-0 due to an extra-time winner from Andres Iniesta. Midfielders Mark van Bommel and Wesley Sneijder made FIFA's All-Star team for the tournament. The Netherlands made the semi-finals of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil with a squad that was less star-studded. The impressive management of Louis van Gaal played a major role in them finishing third, beating Brazil in the play-off to claim that honor.
